AMBER+PEARL Project

Yesterday, the opening of the AMBER+PEARL exhibition took place at the MSB Gallery in Gdańsk. The exhibition was organised as part of a research and implementation project. Students from the Experimental Design Studio at the Faculty of Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, presented more than 30 commercial jewellery prototypes combining two organic materials associated with the sea – Baltic amber and pearls. The designs were developed using CAD/CAM technology and 3D printing, with the aim of introducing selected pieces into serial production and making them available through jewellery retailers worldwide.

The competition winners received prizes sponsored by S&A. The main awards were presented to Martyna Golińska, Sandra Skurnóg and Angelika Dzieciuch. Distinctions were also awarded to the projects by Dominika Afeltowicz, Stanisław Sulik, Paulina Śmigiel and Gabriela Kozłowska.

The project was supported by S&A, Profilex, and our partners in Hong Kong: Nancy Chui from Kocham Polskę, Dr Wa Tat Yan from the University of Hong Kong, Fisha’s Farmerry cultured pearl farm in Sai Kung, and our partner institution, the Hong Kong Design Institute.

We congratulate all the students who took part in the project on their creativity, willingness to explore new ideas and innovative approach to jewellery design. We look forward to seeing some of these inspiring concepts transformed into jewellery collections available in stores around the world.
